Tips on buying your first home.
Talk to a reputable realtor who has been in the business a while. I recommend EXIT Realty Rivertown. Talk to her about the schools, parks, churches and neighborhoods you are interested in and the price point you are looking at. Remember to look at the big picture. Buying a house is a way to build wealth, maintaining your investment can be labor intensive and expensive. When unexpected costs arise consider if you are ready for the additional expenses. Find a lender a get preapproved. You can go to your local institution where you bank or local credit union, your realtor can give you a list of lenders in the area.
What kind of mortgage should you consider? Mortgages can be a bit overwhelming and confusing. Don't be afraid to ask your lender every question you can think of. There are no dumb questions. The mortgage that is best for you will depend on: Your current financial situation, do you foresee any changes in your financial situation the next few years, how long will you stay in your home, is your income steady or does it fluctuate. Now if these numbers make sense prepare for the HUNT!!! Bring a camera or smart phone with and take some pictures so you remember what you liked about certain homes and take notes. Know your needs over your wants, and do not go over your price point.
Stay tuned tomorrow what to do when you find that perfect home.
